1. Follow up to our Global Music Story: Starting today, July 10th, Fridays will not only be the last day of the workweek and a sign that you can breathe for a couple days, but it'll be a day to get your hands on new music. While Tuesday has always been New Music Day around the world, the world will come around together to listen globally and simultaneously every Friday. In making a global change such as this, the music industry will have an easier time managing each release instead of dealing with the details and crazy calendar of different country releases at different times. On the fanbase side, now listeners and fans around the world will be able to tune in at the same time to enjoy the music. There will be no more waiting for a UK, US, or European release date while waiting your friends on the other side of the pond to enjoy it too. The world will come together for music.
2. NYC announced a music festival that may top those mentioned in our previous music festival update. Global Citizen Festival and the City of NYC announced that Ed Sheeran, Coldplay, and Beyonce will be performing during this FREE festival to bring the world together to end global poverty. No, it's not too good to be true. This show is really free! The "catch"? You have to do your part to end world poverty. Unlock challenges all summer long to score your tickets and be a part of a world movement you (and the world) will never forget.
3. And lastly, following up on our Facebook and Label story, Facebook says they have no intention of releasing a music streaming service.
